                          Joint Meeting
            Selectmen with the Water Commissioners
                                                                           March 27, 1996

Selectmen Attending: Judith Murdoch, James Haggerty, Chair; Peter
Jones and Catherine Kuchinski, Clerk with Joseph Nugent, Board's
Executive Secretary.  

Water Commissioners Attending: Phyliss Bickford, Tom Dahlberg,
and Robert Andrews, Chair with Water Superintendent Ed Reed and
Secretary Carol Sivizzerio.  (John Currie leaving as meeting set
to begin.)

Meeting Posted to begin at 8:30pm at the Water Department Offices
in the Industrial Park.

I. Ridder lawsuit: Haggerty updated the other Selectmen on the
facts of the trespass lawsuit against Ridder. In light of the
results on the companion lawsuit which the Town won, Haggerty
requested  Motion 3/27/96.1: move that the Board of Selectmen
vote not to pursue the lawsuit on the trespass matter against
Ridder at this time; lawsuit to be dropped without prejudice.
Motion made by Jones with second by Murdoch. Motion carried 4-0.

II. DEP Request for a Joint Meeting: Nugent informed the two
Boards that Dave DeLorenzo from DEP called him looking to
schedule a joint meeting with DEP to be updated on progress
within the Town on water issues.  It was agreed to look at April
22 then April 29 from 7pm on.  The Board of Health would also be
invited to attend.

III. Executive Session Requested: Water Department requested
Executive Session under Exemption number 6 (strategy for land
negotiations).  Motion made by Bickford with second by Dahlberg.
Roll Call vote taken: Bickford: Aye; Dahlberg: Aye; Andrews: Aye.
Motion 3/27/96.2: move to enter Executive Session under Exemption
number 6 (strategy for land negotiations) with the Water
Commissioners and staff.  Motion made by Murdoch with second by
Jones. Motion carried 4-0 with Roll Call Vote: Jones: Aye;
Haggerty: Aye; Murdoch: Aye and Kuchinski: Aye.  
 
Selectmen reconvened in Open Session at 9:50pm with no votes
taken.

IV. Adjournment. Motion 3/26/96.3: move to adjourn.  Motion made
by Murdoch with second by Jones.  Motion carried 4-0.
